Matthew E. Shaffer
As our Chief Investment Officer, Matt oversees the development and implementation of all financial strategies for each of the firm's individual and business clients. In his role as CEO, Matt is responsible for the creation and execution of our overall business strategy. He is committed to ensuring that the proper resources are allocated to the people, research, and technology that allow us to provide the highest levels of advice and service to our clients.
From 1996 to 2001, Matt served as an Associate Vice President at Morgan Stanley in Columbus, Ohio. He then joined Smith Barney, holding the positions of Vice President of Wealth Management and Senior Investment Management Specialist. In May 2009, Matt and his wife, Tricia, founded Shaffer Capital.
Matt holds the respected Certified Financial Planner™ certification, which reflects his mastery of a broad range of financial planning topics. He also holds the Series 65 Investment Adviser Representative license.
In 1996 Matt earned a Bachelor of Science in Business degree, with a major in Finance and a minor in Economics, from Miami University, in Oxford, Ohio. In 2005, he graduated as class valedictorian from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University with a Master of Business Administration degree. He is a member of the Financial Planning Association and the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
Matt is a native of Galena, Ohio, and continues to live in his hometown with his wife, Tricia, and their four children. His wide-ranging interests include watching soccer, listening to music, playing golf and fly-fishing.
